Smart map integration with Google Maps (explained)

To embed Google Maps into your smart map, you need a Maps Static API key from Google. To get the API key, first you must create a Google Cloud billing account. You are billed in accordance with the volume of map loads per month.

Once you have the API key, you must enter it in XProtect Management Client. See also Enable Bing Maps or Google Maps in Management Client.

Add digital signature to Maps Static API key

If you expect the XProtect Smart Client operators to make more than 25.000 maps requests per day, you need a digital signature for you Maps Static API key. The digital signature allows the Google servers to verify that any site generating requests using your API key is authorized to do so. However, regardless of the usage requirements, Google recommends using a digital signature as an additional security layer. To get the digital signature, you must retrieve a URL signing secret.
