Create the AI Bridge role

The AI Bridge role

The AI Bridge role is a user role that by default contains the least amount and lowest level of permissions required to use Milestone AI Bridge. The role is not an administrator role but does have some high-privilege rights.

The AI Bridge role can be created from Management Client > Processing Servers or created manually from Management Client > Security > Roles.

The AI Bridge role contains permissions to all cameras but as with all roles, you can adjust the role to only contain permissions for selected camera groups as well as for individual cameras.

Note

The AI Bridge role must be unique. You will not be able to create a new AI Bridge role if a role with the same name already exists.

Edit the AI Bridge role

You can maintain and edit the AI Bridge role the same way you would edit any other XProtect role in Management Client > Security > Roles but note that removing or changing the original permissions in the default AI Bridge role may result in unexpected behavior as required permissions may be missing or insufficient for Milestone AI Bridge operations.

Using other roles for Milestone AI Bridge

You do not need to use the default AI Bridge role. You can use one of your organization's other roles or an administrator role if this better suits your organization's requirements.

Use your own role

You can manually create and name a role that contains the same permissions as the AI Bridge role and then assign your role to the basic user reserved for Milestone AI Bridge.

Use the administrator role

You can also assign an administrator role to the basic user reserved for Milestone AI Bridge but note that the administrator role will often contain more and higher elevated permissions than Milestone AI Bridge typically requires.

Note

In order to reduce potential vulnerability, Milestone strongly discourages assigning high-privilege administrator roles to the basic user reserved forMilestone AI Bridge.

To create the AI Bridge role from the Processing Servers page

  1. In Management Client, click Site Navigation > Processing Servers > to open the Processing Servers page.

  2. In the Processing Servers pane, right-click the Processing Servers top node and select Create AI Bridge role.

  3. After you have clicked OK, you can see the new AI Bridge role in Management Client > Site Navigation > Security > Roles.

    Tip

    Remember to refresh the Roles page first.
