Why can't I connect to the VMS?

  1. Make sure that the relevant plugin is installed.

  2. Check if the VMS is supported by clicking here.

  3. Try to install the VMS client (not the server) on the BriefCam machine and connect to the VMS. If you are unable to see the cameras and/or fetch, then the issue is probably related to networking, the firewall, or GPO.

  4. Check if you can ping the VMS.

  5. Check that the correct SDK is installed.

  6. Check that you are using the correct credentials.

  7. Check that the service user has sufficient privileges for accessing the VMS.

  8. Check if the VMS requires:

    • A specific port

    • A specific license

    • Windows authentication

  9. Check the network settings (network traffic, connection speed, etc.) and if any protocols are blocked by the end customer's environment.

  10. Check if you can connect using the VMS client. You can do this by using the Video Integration Tester (VIT) – Test the connection to the VMS outside of BriefCam. If video can be fetched, then we can rule out a problem with fetching.
