Aggregated RESEARCH Data

Last Updated: 2 minute read

RESEARCH data is set in two models:

  • Aggregated (default) – A summarized hour-level data model that aggregates the data of all the objects that were captured in each hour. This data model is lighter in terms of storage consumption and therefore it can be used for longer retention periods (years), reduces RAM and reduces hardware cost. Data about the following is not included in the Aggregated mode: Proximity, Face Recognition, License Plate Recognition, and people counting. As opposed to the Detailed mode, in the Aggregated mode, the tolerance is set to “Normal” and cannot be changed. In addition, the Filters visualization contains a smaller number of filters than with the Detailed dashboards. Note that if you are using aggregated data, the RESEARCH platform’s update process runs once an hour (as opposed to every 5 minutes for detailed data).

  • Detailed – A complete data model that includes all the objects and their details. This data model requires a large amount of storage and is designed to support short retention periods (weeks/months). The detailed model, by default, loads 1 month (=30 days) of data. The default can be changed in the RESEARCH.DetailedLoadDays environment setting. For more information about this setting, see the ??? section.

In medium and large-scale systems, the data retention should be planned with BriefCam's system architects while taking into account the storage and hardware capacity.

The following additional three environment settings can be set by the administrator:

  • QlikEnableAggregatedDashboards – To hide the RESEARCH module's Aggregated tab, change this setting from true to false.

  • RESEARCH.DefaultDashboardMode – The administrator can also set whether the Detailed or Aggregated mode will be open by default using the RESEARCH.DefaultDashboardMode environment setting.

  • QlikAggregatedAppSheetID – Here you can set the ID of the dashboard that will display by default in the Dashboard tab’s Aggregated mode. For information about how to find the dashboard ID, see Changing the Default RESEARCH Dashboard.
