Back up server logs

Log data is stored in VictoriaLogs on the Management Server. The VictoriaLogs data, configuration files, and related folders are located in:

%ProgramFiles%\Milestone\VictoriaLogs

Server logs and their configuration are stored separately from the XProtect configuration database. As a result, they are not included when you back up or restore the system configuration database.

If you want to retain log data beyond the configured retention period or protect it against data loss, regularly back up the VictoriaLogs data and configuration files, including the .json files and data folders in the VictoriaLogs installation directory.

Retention period

By default, system logs and rule logs are retained for 7 days. Audit logs are retained for 30 days. When the retention period expires, older log entries are automatically deleted.
