Note

The plugin is installed with assistance from a Milestone engineer and is therefore not available for direct download from Milestone's website. If you're interested in purchasing the XProtect Evidence Plug-in, please reach out to your Milestone representative or fill out this form.

The Milestone Evidence Plug-in consists of two parts: the service and the plugin.

Installing the service

You install the service on one machine – typically the same machine that runs the XProtect Management Server and/or XProtect Event Server.

You can install the service manually or through an MSI push.

  • If you install the service manually, and .NET 8 is not installed, the setup installs .NET 8.

  • If you install the service through an MSI push, and .NET 8 is not already installed, the installation of .NET 8 must be pushed separately and beforehand. The service requires only a handful of configuration values: Customer ID, Customer Key, Migration ID, and the storage drive letter. The configuration values are all provided ahead of time. They can be handled automatically as part of the MSI installation, or you can configure them after the installation in the XProtect Smart Client.

Installing the plugin

You can install the plugin on every relevant XProtect Smart Client.

  • Milestone recommends installing the plugin through an MSI push, but you can install it manually if needed.

  • There is no configuration needed for it, unless the service is located on a machine different than the XProtect Management Server, in which case the machine's address is required.
