Upgrading a Next-Gen Deployment

To upgrade a Next-Gen deployment:

  1. Upgrade the Windows server according to the steps in the BriefCam Upgrade Guide.

    Note

    The 2025 R1 OX6 installer no longer supports RedHat 8.9, in accordance with RedHat’s release lifecycle. The installer now supports RedHat 8.10 only.

    Note

    The 2025 R1 SP1 OX6 installer no longer supports Ubuntu 22.04.2. The installer now supports Ubuntu 24.04 only.

  2. Follow the steps in the Linux Server section of the Next-Gen Engine Deployment topic.Next-Gen Engine Deployment

  3. Log into BriefCam and re-enable the rules and sources.

Migrating OX5 Rules and Settings

To migrate existing rules and settings from the Windows-based OX5 engine, a script can be run after installing and enabling the Next-Generation engine. All rules will continue to work after the upgrade but will be migrated to Next-Generation smart alerts, which will trigger within 5 seconds. Note that this is a one-way migration, and you cannot reverse this migration.

The name of the script is: Migrate_Rules_to_NextGen_Engine.bat and it is located at: C:\Program Files\BriefCam\PostgreSQL\Tools\Setup.
