BriefCam Upgrade Guide

Last Updated: 1 minute read

This section describes how to upgrade your environment to the latest version of BriefCam.

Steps for Upgrading

Upgrading from v6.4 or Above to v2024 R2

Upgrading from v6.3 and Below

General Notes

  • When installing or upgrading BriefCam or upgrading the NVIDIA GPU driver, it takes up to 30 minutes for the Processing Server service or Alert Processing Server service to start for the first time, because the Deep Neural Networks are being rebuilt.

  • Regarding the PostgreSQL installer:

    • When you run the PostgreSQL installer on top of an existing PostgreSQL installation, the installer will not remove any of the existing data.

    • As of BriefCam v6.3 HF3, the version of Postgres has been updated to version 10.23 – this is the internal version of Postgres and is not related to the BriefCam database schema version. Note that when you are upgrading form v6.3 HF3, the PostgreSQL version will not be updated automatically. If you want to update it, you need to manually install it.

    • As of BriefCam v6.3 HF3, if you run the Postgres installer on top of an existing installation, the Postgres internal database server version is updated – this patch includes many vulnerability fixes – again, this is not related to the BriefCam schema.

    • As of v6.3, the version of Redis has been updated to version 5.0.10.

Known Issues

  • When upgrading, if a customer wants to use a custom passphrase, they will have to uninstall and then reinstall the BriefCam Server, Web Services, and VMS plugins.
