Next-Gen Engine Configuration

Last Updated: 1 minute read

BriefCam’s engine has two modes – on-demand and real-time. These modes are used by the different modules as follows:

RESEARCH

On-Demand

Run Now, Daily, Weekly

Run Once, Daily, Weekly

Real-Time

Continuous

In BriefCam 2023 M1 and above, the administrator can decide whether to run the real-time processing using the OX5 engine or the new OX6 real-time engine. To use the new engine, you need to install the Next-Gen engine on a separate Linux server.

In a next-gen deployment, the real-time processing will be done by the OX6 real-time engine and the on-demand processing will be done by the OX5 on-demand engine.

Along with the switching of the underlying engine, some aspects of the UI are different in OX6 – for example, there will be only one alert type (Smart alerts) in the rule creation wizard.

*Instant REVIEW = In full asset mode (PartialVisualAssets environment setting is set to false), videos processed in the RESPOND and RESEARCH modules will be immediately available in the REVIEW module when you are investigating the same exact time range.
