Parked Vehicle Count: Provide hourly counts of parked cars detected by a camera. Display the results using interactive charts in the Dashboard.
Configuring Video Analytics
The process of configuring video analytics is divided in two steps:
Step 1: Find a camera in the list of devices for some organization and configure one or multiple analytics for this camera.
Step 2: Set up rules for handling alarms. This step is not needed for People Count and Heat Maps.
Enabling your Analytics
-
Go to the Devices tab to see a list of cameras in your system.
-
Click on one of the listed cameras to open a panel showing the current camera view and camera information.
-
Click on Configure Analytics.
-
Enable one or more analytics that you wish to turn on for your camera.

Add Regions
Some analytics can have regions. Standard indicates that the region of interest is the entire camera view. You can also define your own regions, as shown in the figure below.

Figure 2: Adding a region of interest for monitoring. The region has a name and a minimum number of people that will trigger an alarm or notification.
Setting up Rules
Once you finished defining the settings for a particular region, click the link button to set up a Rule. The Rule defines who views alarms and receives notifications. You can learn about Rules in our Analytics Rules Article.
Note for People/Vehicle in Region: We strongly recommend setting up the Record Video action in addition to your desired action types, as these analytics work separately from Video Motion Detection (see Device Settings). Otherwise footage may not be available when these analytics are triggered.
Note for Blur Detection: We recommend users to start with the default value of 0.5. If during normal operations a camera triggers false positives, then users can reduce and fine-tune the sensitivity value.
You can click on Add Widget to add your desired widgets to your Dashboard.
Important Note for Video Analytics
Cloud Analytics use one extra video stream per device.
Enabling cloud analytics will result in one Gateway stream and one cloud stream. This single stream from the gateway and cloud will handle both analytics and live viewing. We do this to ensure your analytics are always running regardless of your recording schedule or motion settings. If the device you are setting Video Analytics up for is at a bandwidth constricted location, we recommend you set the device to record on motion only, and only enable analytics for critical cameras that need them.
