Monitor and manage your system

The Integrated Dell Remote Access Controller application

Your Milestone Husky unit contains the Integrated Dell Remote Access Controller application (iDRAC) that can help you configure, monitor, maintain, and troubleshoot your system. The iDRAC features can be accessed using its web interface or (for more intricate tasks) through the SSH console.

The Integrated Dell Remote Access Controller board enables you to obtain information regarding your unit’s hardware status, such as hard drives, firmware, memory, and other central elements.

You can also use iDRAC to resolve or mitigate some of the issues that might arise, such as:

  • monitoring server loads, hardware, software, and network health

  • remotely managing and monitoring your system

  • remotely managing and monitoring system energy usage

  • setting up and adjusting your system storage

  • modifying the system BIOS

  • updating drivers, software, and firmware

  • performing emergency server shutdowns

Accessing Integrated Dell Remote Access Controller (iDRAC)

You can access iDRAC locally on your unit from the Storage management tab in Husky Assistant or remotely if you have set up iDRAC to enable remote access.

Remote access through iDRAC must be set up and enabled in iDRAC before anyone can access the system remotely.

Your iDRAC user name and password

Your Husky unit contains a default iDRAC user and a machine-specific iDRAC password. The default iDRAC user is called “root” and the default password is located on the underside of your unit’s information tag.

When you access the iDRAC login page for the first time, for example when you set up your Husky unit for the first time and select to manually set up your storage options, you are strongly recommended to change the user and password.

If you are configuring your system storage, do not delete the virtual disk configured on the BOSS-controller as this virtual disk contains the operating system.

For more information about iDRAC, see Dell iDRAC 9 manual (external site).
