System requirements

Before you install XProtect Update Manager, make sure that your system meets the requirements listed in the following table.

Requirement

Description

Service account

Create or use an existing Windows account that belongs to the Administators group on the computer where you want to install XProtect Update Manager.

Use the same account on all computers that will run an XProtect Update Manager service.

Milestone recommends creating a dedicated account for the XProtect Update Manager services.

Add a service principal name (SPN)

SPN is required for the XProtect Update Manager elements to trust each other.

For encrypted connections, you must manually add an SPN. Milestone recommends adding an SPN for HTTP connections.

To add an SPN, in Windows Command Prompt, type the command:

setspn -s HTTP/name username

Where name is the computer's fully qualified domain name (FQDN) and username is the Windows account name, for example setspn -S HTTP/myservername.mydomain.com myuser.
