Types of states
All site elements have states that they report to XProtect Remote Manager. A site consists of the following elements:

The states are reported from the lowest level (device components) to the highest (site).
Site states
| Name | Description |
|---|---|
| Healthy | All services, hosts, devices, and device components are running without any errors. |
| Attention | There is a non-critical issue on the site that requires attention. Check the related site elements for issues. |
| Critical | A device, device component, host, or service is in a Critical state. System operation might be interrupted. Check the site elements for more information about the failure. |
| Offline | The XProtect Cloud Connector service cannot connect to XProtect Remote Manager. Make sure that the XProtect Cloud Connector service is running. |
| Pending | You have added a site in XProtect Remote Manager, but the site is not connected yet. Make sure that XProtect Cloud Connector has been installed with the one-time key that was created for the site. |
| Unknown | The XProtect Cloud Connector service has stopped reporting to XProtect Remote Manager. Check if the service is running. |
Host states
| Name | Description |

| Healthy | All hosts are running without any errors. |
| Attention |
The system reports that the CPU or memory levels are above the normal threshold but have not reached the critical threshold on a host that runs a VMS component. You can adjust the thresholds from System Monitor Thresholds in XProtect Management Client. |
| Critical |
The system reports that the CPU or memory levels on a host that runs a VMS component have reached a critical level. The services on that host might not run properly and the system operation might be interrupted. |
| Unknown | The host has reported an unknown state to XProtect Remote Manager. |
XProtect service states
Only the Management Server and Recording Server services report states to XProtect Remote Manager.

| Healthy | All services are running without any errors. |
| Attention | The system reports a non-critical issue on a recording server or device component that requires attention. |
| Critical | A recording server is not functioning properly, and recordings might be lost. |
| Offline | The Management Server or Recording Server service is not running on a host. |
| Unknown | The service has reported an unknown state to XProtect Remote Manager. Make sure that the XProtect VMS API Gateway and the event server are running. |
Device states

| Healthy | All devices are running without any errors. |
| Attention | The system reports a non-critical issue on a device component that requires attention. |
| Critical | The system has detected critical issues on a device. Check the related device components for details. |
| Offline | The connection to the device has been lost. Check the connection between the recording server and the device. |
| Disabled | You have disabled the device component. To enable the component, see Enable or disable a device. |
| Unknown | The device has reported an unknown state to XProtect Remote Manager. Make sure that the XProtect VMS API Gateway and the event server are running. |
| Communication stopped | The grace period for your device might have expired. Check if you have activated your license. |
Device components states
| Name | Description |
|---|---|
| Healthy | All device components are running without any errors. |
| Attention | The device component is working, but the system has detected a non-critical issue. |
| Critical | (For cameras only) Video frames from the camera might be lost due to network or recording server issues. |
| Offline | The connection with the device component is lost. Check the connection between the recording server and the device. |
| Disabled | You have disabled the device component. To enable the component, see Enable or disable a device component. |
| Unknown | The device component has reported an unknown state to XProtect Remote Manager. Make sure that the XProtect VMS API Gateway and the event server are running. |
| Communication stopped | Your grace period for the device might have expired. Check if you have activated your license. |
