Install the AXIS Optimizer plug-in for XProtect

Overview

AXIS Optimizer for the XProtect VMS enables you to manage your Axis devices from XProtect Management Client more efficiently. To learn more about AXIS Optimizer, go to https://www.axis.com/products/axis-optimizer-for-milestone-xprotectr.

XProtect Update Manager supplies you with the most recent version of AXIS Optimizer which has been verified to work with the tool. We frequently test if newer versions are compatible, but the version you see in XProtect Update Manager might not be the most recent version of AXIS Optimizer.

Installation

With XProtect Update Manager, you can install the following AXIS Optimizer elements:

  • AXIS Optimizer plug-in . Install this plug-in on a computer running the XProtect Smart Client or XProtect Management Client components.

  • AXIS Optimizer component for the event server. Install this component on a computer that runs the event server.

To install the plug-in and the component for the event server:

  1. On the Updates tab, download the AXIS Optimizer plug-in by selecting image id84.

    The AXIS Optimizer plug-in consists of three files. To install the plug-in successfully, do not modify or remove any of these files:

    • AxisOptimizer_[version].exe

    • AxisOptimizer_[version].zip

    • AxisOptimizer_[version].exe.integrity.xml.

  2. On the Hosts tab, select the check box before the host you want to install the plug-in on.

  3. In the Components to update and install panel, select AXIS Optimizer for MilestoneXProtect and click Update.

  4. Read and accept the license agreement.

  5. Select if you want to install the event server component. With this component, you can create custom actions for Axis devices. It requires a restart of the service. You can also opt out of sharing usage data or device statistics with Axis.

    Then, click Install.

You can see the installation status on the component list on the right-hand side.
