A brief overview of the process:

  1. Ensure the prerequisites are in place.

    1. Backend and collector must start up correctly with their default configuration.

  2. Select one of the collector configuration examples and update it with the parameters specific to your deployment.

    1. There must be no indentation errors in the configuration.

    2. Restart the collector with the new configuration and ensure it is running.

  3. Modify the XProtect services shared configuration file to export server logs to the collector.

    1. Restart all services to pick up the new configuration.

    2. Ensure all services are running and the system works as usual.

  4. Run an auditable action in the system (i.e. login using the XProtect Management Client) and ensure it is shown in the client provided by your selected backend.
