Verify that failover is working
Before deploying your failover cluster to production, validate your configuration using the following checks.
Check that services are set to manual startup
Verify that Failover Cluster Manager controls the VMS services.
On a node that belongs to the failover cluster, open Services.
Verify that the startup type for the Management Server and Data Collector Server services is set to Manual.
Repeat on all failover cluster nodes.
Check service status in Failover Cluster Manager
Verify that Failover Cluster Manager shows the correct status for each node.
In Failover Cluster Manager, expand the cluster and go to Roles.
Select the role and open the Resources tab. Check the status of the Management Server and Data Collector Server services.
On the owner node, open Services and compare the service status of the VMS services.
If the statuses do not match, restart the role and verify again.
Trigger a failover
After confirming the configuration, trigger a failover to verify behavior.
Restart the node that currently runs the VMS services.
In Failover Cluster Manager, identify the new owner node.
On the new owner node, verify that the Management Server and Data Collector Server services are running.
On the remaining nodes, verify that the services are stopped.
Verify client connection
Log in to XProtect Management Client or XProtect Smart Client using the cluster address.
If the configuration is working correctly, you can connect to the active management server using the cluster address without interruption.
