OpenTelemetry log forwarding (2026 R1+)

With the 2026 R1 release, the XProtectLog Server component has been deprecated. This section is valid only if you are using version 2026 R1 or newer.

API Gateway forwards the logs from XProtect to OpenTelemetry. In a cluster setup, API Gateway must be configured to point to the dedicated OpenTelemetry host.

  1. On the host where you have API Gateway installed, go to C:\Program Files\Milestone\XProtect API Gateway\appsettings.json

  2. Update Clusters with the following addresses:

To ensure the system collects logs, log in to XProtect Management Client and go to Server Logs. On the VictoriaLogs tab, click View server logs in VictoriaLogs and see if the system logged your activity.
