Starting and logging into the XProtect Evidence Plugin

To use the XProtect Evidence Plugin, start the XProtect Smart Client and select the Evidence tab.

Closing the XProtect Evidence Plugin

When you close the XProtect Smart Client, the XProtect Evidence Plugin closes as well. However, your job continues to run in the background.

NOTE: As long as you press the Submit All button, your jobs are created and handled without additional user intervention, regardless of whether the XProtect Smart Client is open. If you are in the middle of creating a job and you go to a different tab (i.e., Exports) without pressing the Submit button, you will lose your metadata and camera requests.

The camera tree view

You can select the cameras you want to view from the camera tree view.

  • Click a camera to open it in review mode within the video canvas.

  • Use the search function to find the camera you need. Start typing the name of your camera, and it filters out the cameras based on your search. It is a great tool when you have hundreds of cameras.

On the canvas, you can view video and control event dates/times.

Description

Timeline

Shows you the length of the video file you’re viewing and the specific time in the video during playback.

Slider bar

Shows the time frame within the video viewed, reflected on the left of the timeline. If you drag the slider bar forward or backward, the video will fast-forward or rewind.

Player controls

Enables you to play, pause, or stop the video.

Set event times

Use these controls to create the start and end date and time. It shows you the duration you have selected.

To move the camera with the chosen event duration and list it in the Camera Request pane, click the Add to List button.

NOTE: When you select your second/next camera, the event time will stay the same as the previous camera. If you click the Add to List button, the camera is moved to the Camera Request pane with the same event time. If you want to change the event time, you can make the relevant changes and click the Add to List button again.

The Information pane

The Information pane displays the configured metaform, allowing you to enter metadata related to the case. The fields can be configured as optional or required, choice/dropdown, or short or long text.

The Camera Request pane

The Camera Request pane lists all the cameras and event times associated with each request.

If you click the Submit All button, all the metadata and the camera requests are sent to your configured backend of choice. When you select it, the job/upload will be run automatically from the service.
