Connect Server Logs to an external monitoring solution

You can forward Server Logs from the XProtect VMS to an external monitoring or logging solution for centralized monitoring.

The VMS uses the API Gateway to collect logs from the system components but can forward the logs it to external monitoring tools using the OpenTelemetry Protocol (OTLP).

OTLP uses standard ports depending on the transport:

• 4317 for OTLP over gRPC

• 4318 for OTLP over HTTP

VictoriaLogs uses port 9428 by default for log ingestion and access. For details about configuration options, ingestion endpoints, and log queries when using VictoriaLogs, refer to the VictoriaLogs documentation: https://docs.victoriametrics.com/victorialogs/

Ensure that outbound traffic is allowed to the port required by the monitoring solution you use.
