BriefCam Supported Hardware and Software - v2025 R1
The purpose of this section is to define our two levels of supported hardware and software for v2025 R1.

We have two support levels for hardware and software.

Each major release of our software is tested against each of the supported elements listed below.
Certified Hardware and Software
On an as-needed basis, BriefCam may certify a certain release of software or hardware that is not part of the supported hardware and software on a specific version of BriefCam.
This certification process of software or hardware is done as a Professional Service.
Scope of Support Statements
The hardware and software components in this document are tested thoroughly to guarantee product functionality. Performance and throughput testing are not included in the scope of this support document.
Supported Hardware and Software
Supported NVIDIA GPU Hardware
The following are the supported configurations:
Workstation Grade
Ampere A2000 / Ada RTX 2000
Ampere A4000 / Ada RTX 4000
Ampere RTX A1000 (from 2025 R1 SP1)
Blackwell 4000 Pro (from 2025 R1 SP2)
Server Grade
Ada L4
Laptop Grade
Ada RTX 4080
Supported Browsers
The browsers that are supported are:
Google Chrome version 77 and above
Microsoft Edge version 80 and above
Supported Windows Operating Systems for the Management Server and OX5
The operating systems that are supported for production use are:
Windows Server 2025 (from 2025 R1 SP1)
Windows Server 2022
Windows Server 2019 (no longer supported as of 2025 R1 SP2)
Windows 11 (supported for laptop environments only)
Windows 10 IoT Enterprise 2021 LTSC
Note
Windows 10 and 11 Desktop versions can be used for development environments. They are not supported for other production environments and do not support RESEARCH environments.
Supported File Types for Uploading Images
The supported file types for images are .png, .jpg, .gif, .jpeg, and .bmp.
Supported Linux Operating Systems for OX6
RedHat 8.10 enterprise server with a supported GPU
For 2025 R1: Ubuntu 22.04.2 Server edition with a supported GPU
For 2025 R1 SP1 and above: Ubuntu 24.04.2 Server edition with a supported GPU
Supported Video File Formats
.264, .3GP, .ASF, .AVI, .DIVX, .DVR*, .FLV, .GE5, .MKV, .MOV, .MP3, .MP4,.RAW, .RT4, .TS, .WMV, and .XBA (single & multi-stream)
Supported Codecs
H.264, H.265/HEVC, MPEG-4, and H.263 (H.265 is supported for selected VMSs and cameras)
Supported Pixel Formats
Yuv420p and Yuvj420p
Supported Video Stream Resolution
Minimum CIF (352 x 240), Maximum 4K (3840 X 2160)
Resolutions between archive and real-time multi-streams can be different – as long as they both have the same aspect ratio.
Supported Resolutions of Client’s Monitor Screen
Minimum: 1366 X 768
Supported Hardware Video Decoding
BriefCam products decode video using a GPU card to speed up video processing and offload the CPU. This feature is supported with the following video stream formats:
H.264 and H.265 (H.265 is supported for selected VMSs and cameras)
MPEG-4 and VC-1 with a resolution of up to 2032x1024
Supported Version of NVIDIA Driver
For the OX5 engine: NVIDIA driver version 535 or higher; from 2025 R1 SP2: 570.x only; from 2025 R1 SP3: 576 or 595 - where 595 is the recommended driver
For the OX6 engine: NVIDIA driver version 570.x only
Supported Languages
The following languages are available in the UI:
English (default). Additional supported languages include Arabic, Bulgarian, Chinese (Simplified), Chinese (Traditional), Czech, Danish, Dutch, Finnish, French, German, Hebrew, Italian, Japanese, Korean, Portuguese, Russian, Spanish (Latin American), Thai, Turkish, Ukrainian, and Vietnamese. Note that the RESEARCH module is not available in Bulgarian.
Supported VMSs

For BriefCam-in-a-box systems, the following VMS systems are supported: Axis, Exacq, Genetec, Hanwha, and Milestone.
Note
VMSs are only supported for BriefCam Protect, Insights, and Rapid REVIEW.
